OP postponed - expect more bowls matches soon!!!!

Bowls season complete

What a great way to finish my part of the bowls season - helping Priory to a 3-2 win away at Chichester in the National Top Club. I was leading for the Triples with Stuart logan and Jon Clear. We managed a win against a previously undefeated 3 - very proud

SCB Comps

So thats it for the SCB comps this year - undefeated in the Triples and Pairs - very close in the Singles and gave away the Unbadged and Two Woods. Ted Hood will now play for me in the Pairs alongside Derek Meechan and we have yet to find a willing victim to sub for me in the triples.

In our triples match last night it couldnt have been closer. Just one shot on the last end seperated us from Paul Wilsons Pavilion Three. From small acorns ...

Very short video at Arundel

Gary protecting my wood (on the jack) in our R1 win against Arundel

WSBL 1 v Bognor

The two blue bowls nearest the jack just happen to be mine - which was more of a rarity than it should have been - but hey!!

Derek and I won our Pairs game and now I pass over he mantle in that competition to my friend Ted Hood. Ted will substitute for me in the next and hopefully subsequent rounds.

As to the league game against Bognor - Priory won on 2 rinks, drew on another and won the overall points total. This was my last league game and it was fantastic to have so many well wishers from the Bognor boys. They really are a great bunch of lads. I have a report of the match on the Priory Website

Tomorrow off to Arundel for the PC Cup - Friday is beginning to loom large

SCB Comps

This is the week that most of the Sussex County Comps get going - I started with a Singles match against our own club Champion Stuart Shwartz. I certainly had him on the ropes at 15-3 - but I let him get back to me and he won 19-21 - Good luck in the next round Stuart, but you know I'l get you next time !!!!

I gave away my unbadged game to J Ballinger of little Spain which just leaves a Pairs Match This week and a Triples next week.

Another terrific match for our As - a 7-3 points victory against the improving Southbourne

Sussex VPs

Last year I played in most Sussex Vice Patron games - this year my only appearnce was in the early season fixture against Bognor Regis. I was fortunate enough to be playing with some top bowlers and we ended the day as top rink. It's always good to play with these guys - they love bowling and are great fun to be with. I will miss their company this season, but hope to be back playing with them all again next year

WSBL 1 starts with a cracker at Crablands

Despite the inconvenience of a few drops of rain, we started our title defence with a 10-0 win at Crablands. This is Crablands first year back in the top division, they'll have better days and I hope they stay the course. Nice people and good company!

Wet day at Crablands - Summer bowling continues to please

Bowls England 2 X 4s

Oh dear - well thats one less set of fixtures to worry about. Chichester turned us over in both matches. Good luck to them in the rest of the comp.

We play them again at their green on June 8th in the National Top Club

Early season stuff

Got underway in the Aggregate League and Spoon Competitions

Played in a couple of Friendlies to show willing. At Chichester we had a great game but came second on our rink. At Petworth we smashed it and were the top boys!

Failed at the first hurdle in the National over 55 pairs at Crablands 26-21, but there is the chance of revenge with a return trip there this weekend in the league. The real serious stuff is getting started tonight with the Bowls England 2X4s. Oddly enough we have drawn Chichester for both our A & B entries at home and both will be played tonight. Sussex Comps start next week too - so its bowls, bowls and a few more bowls until June 10th.

President v The Rest

My first full match of the season with the dodgy hip. I skipped (bowls position not physical movement) against Mattthew Smith (pictured). Not only did I survive the experience, with the help of my team we got a victory 20-14.

Snow! Just a couple of hours before a league try out session.

Opening Day Drive

The brave and the foolhardy will mingle on the green for the first outdoor match on St George's Day - April 23

One week to go - anyone for water polo

First Things First

Johnny Fairs and myself have completed the competition draws for 2015, they can all be found on.

Still not sure how my hip surgery will impinge on the comps!!

2016 Season

The new outdoor bowling season is now less than a month away. Crucially I am due for a hip replacement sometime after April 11th. Do I gamble on a full season ticket or not. The hip op will keep me off the green for at least 10 weeks.

I will still enter all the competitions as normal, who knows waiting lists ca be quite long!

Bowling outside on reasonably firm green isn't a problem yet with the hip as was proved in Portugal at the  Alvor Open 2016

The Tarring Priory Bowls Club Squad 2015

Tarring Priory Bowls Club

The 2015  season was a special one for the Priory A team who were champions of the West Sussex Bowls League.

The B side also got some glory by winning promotion from West Sussex Bowls League Division 3 with a 2nd place finish.

I am webmaster for the Tarring Priory bowls Club Website and the link below will take you straight there - well worth taking time out to explore the site!
